The challenge
Malaysian ministries and government agencies needed to deploy IPv6 across large, varied networks. A KTAK-sponsored national programme, run through USM NAv6 from 2007 to 2011, set out to give them practical, consistent deployment guidance.
Role
Vicknesh was Senior IPv6 Consultant and co-led the deployment guidance, advising around 15 to 20 ministries and government agencies.
Approach
- Assessed infrastructure readiness and vendor capability.
- Planned migrations.
- Addressed IPv6 security and testing.
- Ran practical laboratories and technical training.
Outcome
National IPv6 deployment guidance for the Malaysian public sector, backed by hands-on laboratories. The training materials Vicknesh co-developed were used by around 2,000 participants.
